Lauren May SK painting a delicate maidenhair fern frond in watercolour

Hi friend,

After a good few years of not exhibiting my work very much here I am with FOUR botanical/art exhibitions all on top of each other! So if you're in Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra I've got some lovely day outing suggestions for you:

Melbourne:

The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show will be on from March 26-30th. As a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia I have got three paintings included in their exhibit. All pieces are for sale and it should be a stunning collection. Honestly the Show looks amazing and if I could just jump on a flight down there to check it out myself I would be there in a heartbeat.

Details for the Art and Sculpture exhibitions are here.

Canberra:

Also thanks to the Botanical Art Society of Australia I will be contributing to the second ever World Wide Botanical Art Exhibition! Kicking off on the 28th of March the 'Bountiful Botanicals' Exhibition will be showing all the way up until the Worldwide Day of Botanical Art on May 18th. This exhibition is one of many on simultaneous display all around the world in the effort to celebrate plants and highlight their utmost importance and value to the human race. The Australian exhibition in particular will be displaying the many unique and interesting plants endemic to our country that have been used for food, shelter, medicine by our First Nations' People for thousands of years.

Who knew that you could use the delicate Maidenhair Fern (my contribution) to make cough medicine!? Probably don't try that one at home though....

Happily, I have arranged a little family holiday to Canberra so I will get to check out this exhibition in person! All artwork is for sale and all the details you need are here.

BOTANICA 2025 poster with yellow flowers. Text: "The Art of Disguise and Deception." April 5-21, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

Sydney #1:

Botanica! It's been minute but I'm finally in another Botanica exhibition. From the 5th April until the 21st April 'Botanica: The Art of Deception and Disguise' will be showing the the new Garden Gallery at the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens. The theme for this exhibition is plants use camouflage, mimicry and all other sneaky tricks to aid in their survival and continuation of their species. I have painted a number of orchids (the cleverest of all sneaky plants!) as well as a few off-theme paintings also to be included in the exhibition.

All for sale and details are here.

A hand paints a realistic red cherry with a fine brush, showing water droplets, on white paper. The scene is detailed and artistic.

Sydney #2:

Well this one popped up very suddenly (literally) becuase I have been invited to contribute some art to a pop-up store/exhibition with Melbourne fashion label Mode Mischief Studios! So if you're in Sydney and fancy a browse through their clothes and some complementary art at the same time then make sure you visit before the store disappears again! Details here. Again, all art (and clothes!) are for sale. What a cool and unexpected event to be a part of!?

I'm sure I'll write some more blog posts elaborating some more on each of these exhibitions (especially because I've already written some of them) but here is your overview for the time being. Busy times! I'm actually pretty chuffed that I have managed to pull all of this together and have so much artwork created, framed, shipped to various location etc. And if I can find some new homes for these paintings then that will absolutely be the cherry on top.
