Hi friends!
Well this is a new one for me: A few weeks ago Melbourne based fashion label Mode Mischief Studios got in touch with me for an exciting collaboration opportunity. Following the success of their pop-up store in Melbourne late last year Mode Mischief Studios wanted to recreate their pop-up in Sydney with an added feature- an art exhibition! The event is called 'Galleria Mode'.
Inspired by Sydney’s vibrant art scene Galleria Mode pop-up is about creating a space that highlights and celebrates local female, Australian artists. To do so, a select number of artists have been invited to contribute to the exhibition with a piece that reflects the MMS aesthetic. Happily, I was one of those artists, and also happily, MMS has a range of cute graphic t-shirts with imagery of fruits and vegetables- perfect! Cue me whipping up the biggest, juiciest, shiniest deep red cherry you've every seen. (My favourite process video that I made for Instagram is here)
Let me tell you, I am so proud of this cherry. It's big, it's eye-catching and it makes a statement. Also, cherry red is one of my favourite colours to work with and I love incorporating shiny elements into my work too. But more than that, this piece also reflects to me the progress that I have made in all these years of honing my skills. That I could create such an eye-catching piece with such a short turnaround....with no real life cherry to look at (I've juuust missed cherry season!) makes this piece special in all of the ways.
Did I mention that this piece is for sale? It is now available during the pop-up or through MMS's online shop. If you would like this one-of-a-kind painting on your wall you can head to Mode Mischief Studio's website and stay tuned for detail for when the online shop goes live with the exclusive artworks. Or better yet, pop in to the store itself and make it yours now! It is beautifully framed and ready to hang.
The store is open 10-5pm daily from now until the 30th March! 586 Surry Hills, NSW.

Now, more about the pop up store itself! It was described in Vogue Australia as:
A conceptual pop-up designed to fuse fashion and art into one experience, the local label will be hosting the event in Surry Hills, allowing visitors to see and shop a range of never-before-seen designs, in-store exclusives available only at the pop-up, as well as the brand’s full range of best-selling styles.
Designer and fitting out the space herself in the same vein as previous events, founder Mia Zotos crafts a space that goes beyond retail, turning into a sensory and creative experience that allows the ever growing Mode Mischief community a chance to step into the brand’s world.
Mia and her team have done a fantastic job of pulling together a wonderful event that not only showcases her popular ranges of clothing but also took every oppurtunity to highlight the talent and offerings of other young and creative Australian women. Take a look for yourself:
All in all, what great experience getting to paint a really fun and satisfying stunner of a painting for a cool, female-founded, Australian based fashion label.
